We will:

 

  • go with you to the courthouse to file these orders
  • be with you throughout the court proceeding
  • inform you of the documents you need to have with you for court
  • take pictures of any injuries you may have that may be used in court

24 Hour Crisis Response

Victim advocates respond to crisis situations to provide emotional support, information, and advocacy.

 

Individual Counseling

Free and confidential counseling is available to assist victims, family members, and friends as they strive to regain control in their lives.

 

Information and Referrals

Access to community resources is provided such as legal, medical, vocational, housing, financial, and educational programs and aide.

 

Court Advocacy and Accompaniment

We assist with protective orders and / or 50-C forms, offer information to help prepare for legal procedures, and can accompany clients to court when advocates are available.

 

Community Education

Educational presentations – to both large and small groups – are provided upon request. Various educational programs are presented in Columbus and Bladen county schools.

 

Support Groups

Meetings provide an opportunity for members to discuss and share feelings, concerns, and information.

 

Empowerment

Classes for anger management, budgeting, self-esteem, parenting, and other curriculums are offered to assist victims in becoming independent.

 

Emergency Shelter

Shelter is available to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and their children.

 

Volunteer Training

Training is provided to prepare volunteers for victim advocacy and/or perform other services with Families First.
